dcfemtech awards 2016_richkesslerphotography (JoAnna)Earlier this year I was presented with a “Powerful Woman Designer” award by wonderful organization who is doing amazing things to recognize women in technology in the Washington DC area – DCFemTech. This recognition was an incredible honor. It was also a very big surprise. Well, it was a very big surprise TO ME. Everyone else around me didn’t seem surprised in the slightest. Everyone else was surprised that I was surprised. Since receiving the award I’ve been reflecting on my career and how I got here.

Here is what I’ve discovered. I’m a design thinker, a problem solver, an avid rock climber, a coach, and an advocate for the differently-abled. I’m passionate about and really good at what I do. But it’s taken me a very long time to recognize and own my successes. My story is just getting started. I’m looking forward to sharing more of it with you.
